The new layout no longer requires a fixed maximum width for the pictures which is especially useful for panoramic images like this one of the sunrise in Palm Cove, which I took during our holiday in Australia.

It already was possible to switch between dark and light background in the old layout using the "light" or "dark" link in the upper right corner of the page. I think this picture looks better with the dark theme.
